Cupra Terramar unveiled – New sporty family SUV
Cupra presents the Cupra Terramar, a new sporty SUV as a competitor to the VW Tiguan, Audi Q3 and other compact SUVs. All pictures and info!
As a new brand, Cupra is of course very determined and strives to attract more target groups and segments for its models. Accordingly, the Spaniards are now also venturing into the sphere of compact family SUVs with the new Cupra Terramar.

Cupra's new SUV is closely related to the VW Tiguan, but is much sportier in typical Cupra fashion and pays more attention to dynamics than comfort.
Cupra Terramar: Exterior design
The Spanish designers have taken on a sporty design for the Terramar, which is not only part of the brand identity, but is also a must for the Terramar as a tribute to the historic race track of the Autódrom de Sitges-Terramar. The SUV is available in the compact class with a length of 4,519 mm, a width of 1,863 mm, a height of 1,584 mm and a wheelbase of 2,681 mm.
The front is characterized by the light signature with three triangles and the shark nose, both of which are typical Cupra design. Two lines frame the logo and at the same time bring dynamism to the bonnet. The wide openings of the grille and the air intakes on the sides enhance the sporty look of the Terramar. When looking at the profile, the 18-inch wheels stand out, which can also be enlarged to 19 inches or 20 inches if desired.
At the rear of the Terramar, the first thing that catches the eye is the light strip with logo and the lettering underneath. With the diffuser and the kink in the tailgate, the Terramar has an angular rear view and fits into the design language of the brand.
There are nine paint finishes to choose from for the Terramar: Fjord Blue, Glacial White, Cosmos Blue, Timanfaya Grey, Midnight Black, Graphene Grey, Dark Void, as well as the Century Bronze Matt and Enceladus Grey Matt matt matt matte matte options.
Cupra Terramar: Interior, interior and infotainment
Although Cupra is a sporty brand, the Terramar should not disregard its suitability for everyday use, so Cupra has installed sliding rear seats that can increase the trunk volume from 540 to 602 liters. How much space is available with the back seats folded down is still unknown. The designers have also strived for a sporty appearance in the interior and offer a choice of three packages, each with different colour accents.
Im Cockpit des Cupra Terramar sind zwei Bildschirme verbaut: Die digitale Instrumentenanzeige mit 10,25 Zoll sowie der 12,9-Zoll-Touchscreen in der Mittelkonsole für das Infotainment. Optional gibt es auch noch ein Head-up-Display für wichtige Informationen im Fahrerblickfeld. Beim Infotainment ist die bekannte Software aus dem Volkswagen-Konzern verbaut, es gibt beim Terramar bereits beleuchtete Touch-Slider für eine etwas bessere Kontrolle über Temperatur und Lautstärke.
In der Mittelkonsole ist reichlich Stauraum, da der Wahlhebel für die Automatik hinter das Lenkrad gewandert ist. Zusammen mit der leichten Neigung des Bildschirms zur Fahrerseite und dem asymmetrischen Design der Mittelkonsole fokussiert sich der Innenraum stark auf die Fahrerin oder den Fahrer. Gepaart mit dem Ambiente-Licht sowie den zahlreichen Cupra-Logos in Kopfstützen, Türleisten und anderen Dekoreinlagen sorgt Cupra damit für einen modern wirkenden, dynamischen Innenraum.
Cupra Terramar: Antrieb
There are five variants of the Terramar at market launch: gasoline, mild hybrids and a plug-in hybrid. All models use a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, and all-wheel drive is also available as an option in the more expensive variants. The base model is the eTSI mild hybrid with 1.5 liters of displacement, 150 hp and a 48 V battery.
For more power, there is the 2-liter TSI with 204 hp or 265 hp on the Terramar VZ. The plug-in hybrid (PHEV), which also comes with 204 hp or 272 hp as a VZ model, is the final model. The PHEV is equipped with a 1.5-liter TSI, which, together with an electric motor and a battery with 19.7 kWh of power, moves the vehicle forward. Up to 100 kilometers of electric range should be possible in one charge. The charging power of the battery is up to 50 kW.
Cupra Terramar: Sales launch and prices
The Cupra Terramar is available to order now and is scheduled to be delivered to customers towards the end of 2024. The basic model can be bought from 43,020 euros, while customers have to be prepared for 56,310 euros for the top model, the plug-in hybrid. For the market launch and presentation, there is also a limited special edition "America's Cup" with numerous optional extras to buy, with prices starting at 58,515 euros.
